“Working in the garden is one of my greatest pleasures. I can get lost for days on end; I forget to eat and time passes only with the sun. My floral paintings are an extension to that joy and passion. They represent everything to me in terms of rebirth and creation. During the winter, everything is so desolate - I am in constant anticipation of the spring and longer days of summer. My flower paintings are not necessarily realistic, but rather, expressions of realism in different layer and impressions. Within the organic form of plant life, there are an infinite number of colours and shapes - I can take twenty photos of the same flower and create twenty different impressions and compositions. The possibilities are endless and exciting.”
